Glass
is at the heart of Mexican folk craft, and along with
clay (barro), iron, and rustic furniture, it completes
the nexus of major crafts found in districts like Tonala
and Tlequepacque.
The majority of glass is recycled, giving it textures
and dimensions that can be magical. It also tends to be
heavy, and thicker than “new” glass because
it is frequently blown and turned by hand, rather than
molded, although molded glass is also available in Guadalajara.
This section of our site will be dedicated to the search
for and creation of really unique, and useful recycled
folk craft glass. The pieces will be for use in the garden,
or will bring the garden indoors during the winter months.
We hope you find special pieces here that will tickle
your fancy.
