"Received
my pack of cull fatwood yesterday and was very pleased
with
the quality. For what I need it for, it fits the bill perfectly.
Some
irregularity, but my fireplace won't know the difference.
Thanks
again for providing a great, earth-friendly product!"

What is Cull?
Cull is what we do not put into your full-price box.
It is the shards, pieces, chunks, slivers, and odd-sizes
that are always in a bag of fatwood. We don't think
you
should have to pay full price for them.
It
is also those straight sticks of fatwood that do not contain
the
pitch/resin content as our grade "A" sticks. We
have
gotten
to the point where we can simply pick up a stick and
tell
you if it is "A" or cull. You will also find some
high-resin content
sticks
in your cull if we feel they are too thin to give a good
fire start.
Due
to deeper culling than previously
the fatwood cull is a lot more regular, and will surprise
you.
This box is also 14x14x14 (like the 50 lb.) and is full.
I
start my fires with the cull wood, and it works just fine
but, as
I
said, it does take a few more sticks.
We have, however, removed the pine needles, sawdust,
chunks of debris and chicken feathers that are also
found in these bags.

The
top right photo
is loose cull, and the
photos to the left are
cull boxes.
We just fill a box as we
go, separating grade A
from the culls. |
