What is Cull?
Cull is what we do not put into your full-price box.
It is the shards, pieces, chunks, slivers, and odd-sizes
that are always in a bag of fatwood. We don't think
you should have to pay full price for them.
We have been doing a deeper cull than earlier this year,
so the fatwood cull is a lot more regular, and will surprise you.
This box is also 14x14x14 (like the 50 lb.) and is full.
What is Butt?
Wood that is cut directly above the stump-heart of the tree is
called butt wood. It generally has a much straighter grain,
and looks a lot more like lumber that has been split, although
this is Longleaf, so it is still pretty full of pitch.
A box (14 x 14 x 14) of regular Grade A fatwood that weighs 50 lbs.
will, with butt wood, average 40 lbs. or less. That means
it will take a couple more sticks to start the fire - which is why
you are paying less for it. We have gotten to the point here
where we can tell, by simply lifting a handful of fatwood, about
how much it weighs.
I start my fires with the butt wood, and it works just fine but, as
I said, it does take more sticks.
Last year we separated the cull and butt, but it just became
an inventory issue, so we paired it down. Now you get
grade "A" at $.95 a lb., or Cull/Butt for $.75 a lb.
We have, however, removed the pine needles, sawdust,
chunks of debris and chicken feathers that are also
found in these bags.
Below I have listed all the cull/butt boxes we currently
have available. We will add them as we fill them.

Folks - because of the way these are selling you may get a box with a lb. more or less. You will be charged ONLY for what we are ACTUALLY shipping (lbs. + shipping) and the receipt will be in the box.
These boxes are going very quickly, and we fill them as we cull for the "A" grade fatwood. If you don't see anything available at the moment, within a couple days that could change, so be persistent.
Rather than trying to re-price everything below, your box
will be between 37-40 lbs. You will pay for "actual" weight
and "actual" shipping, with receipts in your box.
We have priced it all at 40 lbs. or $26. If it is less
you will pay less. Shipping is also priced for 40 lbs.,
but again, if it is LESS you will pay less.
